Holiday Cruise VIII

Greetings from Fakarava,

We are at Latitude 16° 03.57’ S and Longitude 145° 37.90’ W inside the massive lagoon of Fakarava.  We entered the lagoon at 6:00AM, about an hour after sunrise.  The water is an amazing shade of aquamarine but it is a little turbid.

We took a tender into shore in the tiny little village of Rotoava and walked a mile to a small beach to do some snorkeling.  We saw one area with some quite large sharks circling around near the shore, maybe 5 or 6 feet long.  There were little markets, jewelry shops and a church along the single narrow road and a few little homes with gorgeous plumeria and views out to our ship.   The lagoon is calm and many private yachts, catamerans and sail boats are anchored about.  People on holiday in the French Polynesians like us.

Hope you enjoy the photos.  We sail for Bora Bora at 2:00PM and will be anchored there tomorrow morning by 10:00AM.  We will be back to Fakarava on Christmas Day.

God Bless you all,

Jud and Vicki
